Throughout the class, we were expected to complete an ePortfolio assignment. This assignment wanted us to create a website with information about our current projects, resume, blogs posts, and a little information about ourselves. In order to start this assignment, we had to create a website on Wix.com. I have never created a website using this platform before and was surprised by how easy it was to do. The tools provided on this website make it easy to get started by having plenty of templates to choose from. It also has many themes and layout options to personalize the website to make it your own.
I learned about the importance of keeping a record of all of my information, as well as keeping everything up to date. At the time my resume was outdated, and this class gave me a great opportunity to update and publish it on my website. Keeping track of all of my assignments and having blog posts will also be valuable if I ever need to go back and reference any of my previous work.
During this class, on my own time, I needed to create a website for a different platform that had examples of my own work. This assignment allowed me to already be familiar with how to do that and helped me quickly create another website and upload the information I needed. Now that I am familiar with how to create these types of websites, it will be a useful tool for me in the future if that situation ever comes up again.
Being able to continuously add more project information to this website will be valuable to me by having one organized place where I can access all of my old work. I can even add projects from my job and have a website that I can show future employers of everything I have completed. This would give me an extra edge over people who do not have a portfolio of all the work that they completed.
For my most recent entry to my ePortfolio, I uploaded my final project. I completed research on deception and catfishing within online dating. I enjoyed my time doing research for this project and putting it all together for a final presentation. After completing it, I felt proud of the work I did and was curious about my topic and where future research would take it. If I could have changed anything about it, I would have liked to find more information about why deception and catfishing takes place as often as it does. This assignment gave me valuable information about how to properly research a topic, as well as create a survey for it. Having the insight into what goes on behind the scenes of surveys gives me a new appreciation for all the work that goes into them.
